How do these simple tests work?

Lyme Disease Antibody Rapid Test is based on sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test device has a testing window with an invisible T (test) zone and C (control) zone. When sample is applied into the sample hole on the device, the liquid will laterally flow through the surface of the test strip. If there is enough Lyme disease antibodies in the sample, a visible T band will appear. The C band should always appear after a sample is applied, indicating a valid result.

Test Procedure

Collect at least 500uL of blood to centrifuge and let clot for 10 minutes

• Centrifuge blood for 10 minutes. Serum should be tested within 1 hour of centrifuging.

• Remove the cassette test from the foil pouch and place it horizontally

• Drip 5uL (5 microliters) with a mechanical pipettor into a buffer tube. Do not reuse buffer tubes.

• Mix the buffer/serum sample well by inversion or vortexer mixer for 5 seconds

• With a mechanical pipettor, extract 75uL of the buffer/serum mixture and place in the sample “S” hole

• Wait 10 minutes for lines to fully appear and interpret results
